The world is constantly changing. In this week (9), Dr. Ahamad Faozy continued discussing another hot contemporary ethical issues including, same-sex marriage, animal rights, internet privacy, death penalty, and insider trading.
All of these issues are prominent issues in our society over many years now. One of these issues was Same-sex marriage. Same-sex marriage, also known as gay marriage or equal marriage is marriage between two persons of the same biological sex or gender identity. This idea of allowing two people of the same gender to enter into the institution of marriage has brought out drastic emotions and reactions from many different groups of people. (Faozy).
In definition, Marriage is a mutual contract between men and women living together and supporting each other within the limits of what has been laid down for them in terms of rights and obligations. Marriage has been around for as long as anyone can remember and after all this time, it has changed very little in the eyes of the law.I am totally against same-sex marriage since gay marriage is against that traditional definition and religion. It is completely wrong to create motherless or fatherless families by design which cannot contribute anything to the community. I believe that Opposite-sex relationships are the only type capable of producing children through natural intercourse, and the only ones guaranteed of providing children with both a mother and a father.
For this time being, same-sex marriage is legalized in some countries like, Argentina, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Iceland, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, South Africa, Swedezland in some parts in U. S. however, let them whatever they legalize, there are absolutely no grounds for considering homosexual unions as a marriage.
Those who are supporting to legalise same-sex marriages are taking a refutable arguments like, they are arguing if heterosexuals meet their needs for love by marrying someone of the opposite sex why not homosexuals!!!. I cannot accept that people who are same sex will love each other but if happens children require more than love. They need the distinctive qualities and the complementary natures of a male and female parent.
To me, legalizing gay marriages will be social disasters especially to those are in favour. In doing so, the significance of being a father to children will lose. According to my religion this is one of the worst sinful actions that an individual does. In conclusion, society needs marriage to establish cultural meaning, moral values around and bringing together male and female so that children can know and be known.
