Suicide is considered a serious sin

This weeks’ lecture learned contemporary ethical issues such as abortion, suicide, euthanasia and surrogate motherhood. Euthanasia and surrogate motherhood are new words for me as I didn’t have any ideas about those two issues. But, I was a bit familiar with the other topics. During lecture, I realized that some of these issues are unethical. For example, in abortion we are committing crime by killing innocent baby. Even though some religion, cultures and laws don’t allow this, some people do abortions unnecessarily. Secondly, I can say about suicide as nowadays this issue is increasing rapidly among youth because they are not strong enough to face problems in their daily life. If they find difficulty in their life, then they attempt to do this kind of crime. Also, there are two types of suicide such as attempted suicide and assisted suicide. Some religious prohibit committing suicide and also it’s considered as a sin. Christianity says that “suicide is considered a grave or serious sin” (Wikipedia). Islam says in holly Quran about this issue like this “And do not kill yourselves, surely God is most Merciful to you “(Quran).

When I leaned about euthanasia and surrogate motherhood, I personally agreed that these two are ethical because these two issues help to fulfill human needs. Euthanasia means killing a patient with his/her permission as he/she cannot endure the pain of his/her illness. The next one is surrogacy motherhood where women caries and gives birth to a baby for the infertile couple. Although I agree that these two are ethical, some part of my mind felt unethical because it will make crimes go through this such as forming prostitution, decreasing motherhood divinity.
