In this week, the lecturer continued to introduce about the contemporary ethical issues which was about same sex marriage, Animal Rights, Internet Privacy and Death Penalty. Here I will be reflecting on same sex marriage. However, some critics support the same sex marriage as a freedom of rights of the individual to choose whatever he or she wants as long as it does not harm others.
The same sex marriage which is known as gay or equal marriage and this is a kind of marriage between two person of the same biological sex or gender. For this group of people we label them as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT). Some countries legalized such marriage like Argentina, Iceland, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, South Africa and Sweden. Every human have their civil right, so they are free to choose their own lifestyle. Moreover the thing that is most important in marriage is love not the difference in gender.
For me marriage is union of two people that form families and the families interact and contribute something to the society. As for me I am straight but I don’t mind even if one of family member or a friend is gay or homosexual. Marriage of the same gender sounds awkward to some society and a lot of question like how, why and so on arises but my personal wonders is that if a homosexual couple is happy why should we interfere as for it is none of our business. People have different lives let them live as they please
However, I have learned a lot of things from this week which gave me a deep understanding about the contemporary ethical issues. I believe that people do have different opinions and views, but all the views are not right depending on the consequences. From my personal understanding after listening to the lecture is that I think man and women was created for each other and if man are enough for our society, God wouldn’t create women. Thus, we need to consider about the fact that people should not violate the reason behind the origin of human being.
