It was the third week of the ethics lecture. I have learned some of the principle of ethics in ICC class in the first trimester. Both of the subjects are similar. They teach us about life. One of my friends has told me “university is not like high school, what they teach you are life lessons”. Now I understood what she was telling me about. I learn a lot about life, how I am supposed to behave in society and react in particular situation. I have applied some of the lessons that I got in class and it is very helpful.
In this week lecture, we had an exercise about ethical issues in society. One of the question asked about ethical issues that I have been involved in. I think everyone who lives in society has been involved in ethical issue. Myself, I have been involved in some ethical problems in my life. According to Wikipedia, ethic is a branch of philosophy that involves systematizing, defending, and recommending concepts of right and wrong conduct. The first time I came to Malaysia, I was faced by an ethical issue of how to point things or people. In my hometown, it is considered as right to point things or people by using index finger, but not in Malaysia. Since I knew it, I do not use my index finger to point things or people anymore.
At the end of the lecture, we discussed on our assessment. We are told that there will be panel discussion and oral examination. The first time I heard about it, I felt dead. Having oral examination is not my first time, I used to do oral examination when I was in high school. However, it was in Indonesian, so it was not very difficult to express myself, but for this time, it will be much more complicated because I have to speak in English. However, I have never done any panel discussion before. I am so afraid of it, maybe I will collapse in front of the audience. However, I feel exited to get new experience on it.
