How to solve world problems.

20 February 2013 was the lecture for this week and our lecturer was shown a video about the issues of globalization. The video is about Ted Talk and it talk about globalization or the issues that occurs around the world nowadays.

There have several issues that were talking in that video such as climate change, education, conflict, communicable disease and many more. In addition, there have a lot of problems occur around the world such as shown in the video, 800 million are starving, one billion lack clean drinking water, two billion lack sanitation, two million dying from AIDS each year, 175 million international migrant, 940 million illiterate adults and several billion people will be affected by global warming.

Furthermore, we did an activity which is according to the video, it shown 10 challenges which is climate changes, communication disease, conflicts, education, financial instability , government and corruption, malnutrition and hunger, population: migration, sanitation and water, and the last challenges is subsidies and trade barrier. From all the challenges, we have to choose which one we should take as our priority. In addition, some students they said education is their priority because they said if the citizen are good in education, they can manage the government well and the problem could be solve. However, in my opinion, I will choose malnutrition and hunger as my priority.  This is because I think food is important in our life and food is our need not our want, without food, we cannot live. In addition, if we do not solve this problem first other problems also cannot be solve. Besides, my second priority is sanitation and water. I choose this as my second priority because, for me I think this problem have too solve immediately because if this problem do not solve the people around the area will face in problem, for example they will get sick. Plus, if they sick how we want to solve the other problem. Furthermore, my third priority is government and corruption. In my opinion, this problem also have to be my priority because I think if the government work well and no corruption in a particular country therefore, the government can handle the other problem that occur and solve it. However, my bottom priority is subsidies and trade also population migration.

During the tutorial we did a competition activity, which is we have to divide into two groups, group A and group B and then we divide another group among group A and B become A1 and A2, B1 and B2. Moreover, I in the B2 group but did not separate we still discuss among all members in-group B. After that, our lecturer, gave us two key words which is globalization and global warming. From that word, we have to brainstorm other key words that related to the main key words that given by our lecturer. The activity was interesting for me because I can share the ideas with others and get some new idea with the members. All of my group comes out with their words that related to globalization and global warming. Furthermore, after finish discussing and brainstorm we have to share our key words with group A but the rules as we cannot repeat the words given by group A, we have to make sure that our words are different from them. During the presentation both groups, it was like debating and for me it was fun and at the same time, from that, I can know the other opinion or idea.  Unfortunately, we only have one hour to do the activity and it is not enough; also our group loss with group A because most of them always object with our answer but it was interesting. I was enjoying the tutorial class. J
