All living things have a right to live on this Earth. But very often we become, unresponsive to their pain totally. We think that animals can’t speak the language of humans. They are created only for human. God created this planet he had a specific purpose for all living things and He did so to strike a balance in his creation. He wanted a world where harmony and peace prevailed and so He made the Food Chain. But men with his greed recklessly are killing the animals. For pleasure, for food, for their skin and other parts of the body, and training some to serve in needs we are using them indiscriminately.
In many religions, animals were worshipped in the past and any cruelty towards them was condemned by the society and so their rights were protected, but, today we are becoming insensitive not only towards animals but also towards other human beings. Slowly and gradually, with the passage of time, man became so arrival and selfish that he started believing that the planet was made only for human being. Now we are no longer thinking the aim of god because of why he created us. Today, animals still do not have the rights they deserve. We still hunt them as a source of food. We use animal experimentations to advance our medical research, and harvest farm animals for our food and food products.
Although, about 99% of all physicians have agreed that animal testing has played a great roll in medical advancements. About 97% of those physicians support animal testing. Most people who are against animal testing, including me, say that animals are not very much like us internally. If animals had rights we would not use them for our selfish purposes. They could live a better life without us using them to advance our way of living. After all, animal testing does help us find out answers for our medically related questions without us having to harm humans but we shouldn’t have to harm animals either especially since there are so many alternatives. But that is a big problem for some countries were they feel it is immoral or it has been made illegal to use a drug without it having been tested on an animal. In some countries they have to be tested on two different types of creatures they should not be in zoos in the city or in cages in some scientist’s laboratory. They should be free in the wild. I do not mean that all research should be stopped but if an animal is in pain I think it should be put to death rather than just letting it live. For animals too feel pain, moreover, we can also ensure that they are looked after well.
Similarly, sometimes for our hobby we catch birds and some animals just to sell them as pets, where they are kept in cages or in surroundings unknown to their natural habitat. Little we realize that a bird cool to flying freely in the sky cannot be happy in a cage. An animal, used roaming around freely in its natural habitat cannot be happy living in cage or small enclosures. If we can imagine that we are kept in a cage then we would understand how sympathetic it is.
In conclusion, I like to say that animal can feel pain as we can. Human are related to animal, therefore, they should have right just like human. It is still not too late, let us together pledge to make a difference. Government should make strong law for saving animals. Even in schools, students need to learn, how to respect the rights of other living things and love all creations of Nature. Parents also can help in making their children sensitive to the pain our actions may cause them.
